South Coast Camping Adventure // Juwan and Sariah

Are you a happy camper or do you prefer to sleep in your own bed?

Over the long weekend in June, we took a much-needed break back to nature on a two-night trip on the South Coast. Juwan grew up as a boy scout in America and camping is kind of his jam, so we booked a site wherever we could (last minute problems) and ended up near a quiet river in the gorgeous South Coast town of Gerroa, on Wodi Wodi land. Although one side of our campsite housed cabins, we opened our tent towards the water and it was pure bliss. The only downside to our whole trip was that we weren’t allowed a campfire which would have made it absolutely perfect but it was still beautiful being surrounded by trees, stars and a stunning full moon.

We also took our new Salty Aura blanket along, which just so happened to match my beanie and my hat. It’s honestly the perfect adventure blanket and we’ve been bringing it everywhere with us since. We try not to be materialistic (which is one reason we get out to nature so often) but have been learning to invest our money consciously and love supporting small businesses (especially these days).

Some highlights of our trip:

  • Sipping almond milk hot chocolate and talking about life under the stars

  • Snuggling in our double sleeping bag (10/10 would recommend)

  • Reading a 575-page book in one night by torchlight

  • Admiring the stunning water and white sand at Hyams Beach

  • Picnicking on a cliff at Killalea State Reserve

  • Climbing and exploring the stunning rock faces near Kiama (scroll to check out some of our photos here)

All in all, it was exactly what we needed to reset, recharge and realign our priorities. This life and world is such a gift and we never want to get too caught up in the busyness and distraction of the time we live in to appreciate it.

We can’t wait until summer for even more camping trips! Are you coming with us?
