Rainy Day Couple's Adventure in La Perouse // Brittany + Blake
Brittany and Blake were visiting Sydney from Tennessee, home of the Smoky Mountains and country music. Brittany is actually an amazing photographer herself, but she and Blake have never really had a couple’s adventure session together and barely even have wedding photos. Honestly that made me so sad because everyone deserves to have their love story captured. So of course we were stoked that they could finally have the opportunity while they were halfway across the world together, and honoured that they trusted us to document their love.
The very first thing we noticed about Brittany and Blake (besides Britt’s stunning eyes) is that they are sweet, open-hearted, and madly in love. The second thing we noticed is how amazing their thick, Southern, Tennessee accents are! Thirdly, we noticed how cool Britt’s tattoos are and I especially loved how she has their wedding date etched on her wrist. So beautiful and handy, too - neither has any excuse to forget their anniversary!
Although Tennessee is gorgeous, there is no coastline, so the two were very excited to explore the beach with us in La Perouse. We picked a spot we knew would be quiet so that they could soak in each other as much as possible. Although we needn't have worried because I'm pretty sure every beach in Sydney was empty that weekend, given the week-long rainstorms at the time! We were a bit nervous about the forecast but they decided to go ahead with the plan anyway, because it was their last weekend before flying home to the States. Besides, we already knew that there's a 99.99% chance every beach session ends in the water so a few raindrops wouldn't matter!
Even though Brittany had warned us that they would be a little camera-shy, you couldn't tell! One thing we work really hard to do is create a space for our couples to be vulnerable and comfortable enough to truly be themselves and love on each other the way that feels natural to them. Britt and Blake were both playful and passionate, splashing each other in the waves and kissing each other deeply.
The rain started to trickle down and added to the magic. Eventually, it became torrential and we had to make a mad dash to the car, protecting all our belongings. Luckily our camera stayed dry but I couldn’t say the same for my clothes - I’ve never driven home from a session pant-less before but hey, there’s a first time for everything and it’s all part of the adventure! Thankfully we had already captured a TON of gorgeous photos for them to treasure forever; check out some of our favourites below.
